What is
Claims Inquiry?
Claims Inquiry is the search function of Verisk's ISO ClaimSearch — the tool claims adjusters and fraud investigators use to look up a claimant's loss history across more than a billion claims covering roughly 95% of the U.S. P&C market.
A single inquiry surfaces matching claims across auto, property, and casualty lines, helping professionals verify claims, spot suspicious patterns, and make faster, better-informed decisions. It is one of the most heavily used functions on the platform, which made modernizing it both high-impact and high-stakes.
01
Project goals
Reimagine Claims Inquiry with a modern, simple look and feel, replacing a dense legacy interface with one that feels effortless, while achieving full accessibility conformance so every claims professional, regardless of ability, can work without barriers.
Modern & Simple
A clean visual language that reduces noise and puts search results fast.
Fully Accessible
Conformance built in from the first wireframe, not retrofitted at the end.
02
Explorations
We started wide: low-fidelity mockups exploring different search patterns, result layouts, and navigation models. Numerous rounds of stakeholder feedback shaped each iteration, with product, engineering, and client-facing teams all weighing in before anything moved to higher fidelity.

03
Narrowing focus
From the explorations, a clear design approach emerged: optimize for intuitiveness and ease of use above all else. Claims professionals run inquiries dozens of times a day, so every extra click, ambiguous label, or buried result costs real time. We refined the direction around the workflows users repeat most, cutting anything that didn't serve them.
The best user experience for a daily-use tool isn't clever, it's invisible. The design should disappear into the workflow.
04
Concept testing
The new design was tested with a team of beta users drawn from the client group: real adjusters and investigators who use the tool daily. Their feedback drove another round of refinement before release. In parallel, every page was tested with a screen reader and run through an accessibility checker to verify conformance.
Beta Client Testing
Hands-on sessions with beta users from the client group; feedback folded directly into design refinements.
Accessibility Validation
Screen-reader walkthroughs and automated accessibility checks on every page to ensure conformance.
